Which Path to Choose?
"The journey begins in your heart. Examine what is important to you.
Set your intention to be inspired, to be renewed, to be replenished and refocused with your life aligned with your heart space.
Then, share light and love from the knowledge you have to give to all those who come across your path.
In doing so, you will be renewed, refreshed and refocused." Dr. MJB 10.27.19

Entering 2021
"My heart longs for change, inspiration & guidance.
2020 has been overwhelmingly difficult. Now it is over.
It is time to start anew - choosing a new path.
First, it is time to let go of what no longer serves you.
Then remember what made your heart sing during 2020.
There were good experiences - remember what they were.
Pray to Source for guidance how to go forward.
Take time to renew your spirit.
Find peace once again and a sense of direction.
There is no one to please but you. Remember that...
Source will help through inspiration to find your correct path to follow.
Then, it is up to you to follow the path to make "heart-way" on your journey vs the head-way!" Dr. MJB 01.02.21

Declaration of Universal Rights - March 31, 2020
The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact Corporate sustainability starts with a company’s value system and a principles-based approach to doing business. This means operating in ways that, at a minimum, meet fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Responsible businesses enact the same values and principles wherever they have a presence, and know that good practices in one area do not offset harm in another. By incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity, companies are not only upholding their basic responsibilities to people and planet, but also setting the stage for long-term success.
The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact are derived from: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. |
Environment Tied to Principles: 7, 8, 9
The world today is facing unprecedented, interconnected environmental challenges in areas including climate change, water, energy, biodiversity and agriculture. With business relying on natural resources directly and via supply chains, new corporate efforts are needed to address environmental responsibilities, value natural capital, and better understand the linkages between resources. To prepare for this increasingly challenging landscape, the Global Compact’s work on environment is designed to help companies develop a holistic and comprehensive strategy. It recognizes the growing linkages among various environmental issues – climate, food, water – as well as their connections to social and development priorities. Our work helps businesses to advance the Sustainable Development Goals including the Action Agenda of the Paris Climate Agreement stemming from COP21. The Global Compact pushes companies to move beyond traditional approaches based largely on compliance and narrow risk assessments. We ask business to actively address environmental risks and opportunities, and have major efforts underway with business in the areas of climate, water and food. As a result, we are seeing businesses around the world preparing for a more sustainable future and becoming part of the solution. Planetary Health Initiative Suggestions
From Dr. Mary Jo Bulbrook, RN, Global Healing Alliance, CEO
Planetary Health Initiative from GHA
Proclamation:
Preamble: The planet’s health is compromised. Climate health and human health are inseparable. Multi-nationally we are acting irresponsibly and have created a multi system failure to protect the health of the planet, climate, oceans, land, animals, cities, communities, and humans. Change is needed now - by EVERYONE doing their part no matter how small. Every action taken helps the whole picture as we are ONE. The actions of ONE affect everyone, everything everywhere. So it is and will be!
Questions: What needs to happen? Who needs to act? What can I do is the place to start!
Mission: We individually and collectively must act NOW to protect planet health. In doing so, we are protecting our health and everyone's health since we are ALL ONE and inseparable!
Nurses To Do Action Steps:
1. Promote policy change in hospitals, organizations, communities, health care systems, nationally and internationally.
2. Incorporate planetary health crisis issues into nursing education, practice and research.
3. Offer on-line support and help to address interactive as leaders in holistic approaches to the health and wellbeing of all.
4. Create a culture of interactive platforms for discussion, dialogue, and delivery of innovative practices that the average person can do to help themselves and the planet suffer less and improve health at the grass roots level.
5. Become a champion and voice for the collective unified force for change NOW!
6. Stand witness to what as a nurse you notice how we can improve what we do in caring for others.
7. Be a committed beacon of light for darkness created by selfish decisions that compromise health of the planet and hence as individuals.
My Contributions to date:
1. Create the Planetary Health website.
2. Define what is important to me and list on my Global Healing Alliance website personal page and United Nurses Network new website page.
3. Create Planetary Health Initiatives suggestions list as a jumping off point for my professional and personal work in this area.
4. Review historical and current data on the topic as it affects nurses, nursing, health care and health policy as an interactive force for change.
