Traditional Complementary Integrative Health Coalition
OBJECTIVES:
- Advocacy: Engaging policymakers to integrate TCIH into healthcare systems.
- Alliance: Strengthening collaboration within the TCIH community.
- Awareness: Promoting evidence-based practices and increasing public understanding.
- Amplification: Elevating the voices of practitioners and patients in healthcare policies.
The TCIH Coalition was born from a global grassroots movement advocating for the recognition and integration of Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Healthcare (TCIH) into national and global health systems. In 2020, global leaders in the Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Healthcare (TCIH) community began to discuss how to respond effectively.
While many leaders had been working regionally, it became clear that the community lacked a unified global voice to advocate for the recognition and integration of TCIH into national and global health systems. This realization sparked the creation of the People’s Declaration for TCIH, a founding document that brought together healthcare practitioners, scientists, and patients from diverse regions and backgrounds under a shared vision. Initially, an informal network that grew around the Declaration served as a collaborative forum, rallying support and aligning goals across different regions. However, as the momentum grew, the founding organizations recognized the need for a formal, strategic body to implement the actions outlined in the Declaration and drive systemic change.
Out of this need, the TCIH Coalition was born—a global movement united by the mission to shape public health policies and create meaningful change in healthcare worldwide. Today, the TCIH Coalition represents over 330 organizations and 8000 individual signatories from across the globe, advocating for TCIH as an essential part of healthcare systems.

"My journey of discovery with academic studies at Akamai University has provided me with a degree program that has developed strong skills in writing, research, collaboration and outreach. Beginning with a Post Graduate diploma in CAM, I was able to bring my past studies in Integrative Health training forward into my interests for a Master's and now a Doctoral degree. The collaborative process with other students, faculty and networks in CAM have provided me with an education that embodies a whole person approach, with a whole education approach. My ability to market myself on the international scene in both science and research has created some wonderful projects and friendships across other university settings as well as disciplines in CAM. I look forward to what follows the doctorate degree in continued outreach for health and wellness across the globe. " Affiliate message to the board click here.
