Nurses Don’t Need Platitudes. Congress must help end the nursing shortage crisisWe need Congress to act to address the ongoing, debilitating nursing shortage impacting every state in the country. Click here to act.

This letter to Congress calls for them to:

• Pass the Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act to address the mental-well-being of our frontline providers;
• Pass the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing Act (S.246/H.R. 851) that in part provides much needed funding for increasing faculty to improve the education of nurses; and
• Work with key stakeholders to change current payment structures to finally recognize nurses as a value instead of 'overhead'.

The simple truth is nurses do not feel valued. Between the pandemic, enduring workplace violence, forced mandatory overtime, sunsetting of workplace protections and more, can we blame them? It is no wonder nurses increasingly work for staffing agencies who can provide better wages or quit the profession entirely.
Nurses, patients, and communities alike have an interest in calling on Congress to do something. These three actions would help alleviate the current and future staffing issues on multiple fronts while positively impacting patient outcomes and satisfaction. It is up to you to make your voice heard!

Facing CHANGE
Twelve Resources To Guide You

Change is inevitable. We all know that. Of course, it is hard to accept and manage the demands required by the change no matter what the topic is such as personal,  professional, organizational, cultural, racial, climate, environmental, national, or worldwide. Change can include health challenges, money challenges, and life challenges as well. So, take time to face the music. Stand before the orchestra and “direct the musicians” to “play with the instruments that now make up the band” that are part of playing the “new song needed” to be played with the “new musicians in the band” to address the “music” needed or wanted by those you are “playing for.”

Change has hit everyone, everywhere and on all fronts affecting ALL. So, buckle up. Notice what the journey is to meet the change. In essence face head on the physical, mental, heart and soul of CHANGE.

Explore options. Weigh consequences of different roads to take. Decide and walk your path after calling on a Higher Power to accompany you on the journey.

Here are 12 resources to call on to help you.

1. Breathe and take in the CHANGE coming or CHANGE that is here.
2. Pause for an appropriate amount of time to take in what is before you.
3. Call on a Higher Power or Resource to guide and walk with you.
4. Open your heart to examine what is important to you that can map your course of action.
5. Listen and speak to others either directly or through books, tapes, dialogue and or invisible clues that point to a direction.
6. Open wide your portal of inspiration and visioning possibilities.
7. Check in with Divine Inspiration that comes forward in many ways both direct and obvious and or indirect through subtle clues.
8. Start building possibilities and paths to explore.
9. Take steps to “visit” the different paths that are drafted.
10. Breathe in again and let go of doubt you will find a solution or solutions.
11. Take one, two and three steps forward on the path of your choice.
12. Examine the light that comes from those initial steps and choices to verify your direction to keep on going or not.

Revisiting the 12 resources for another go around the journey the Change(s) required.
